From red carpets to runways, braids have taken the fashion world by storm in recent years. No longer the lazy girl’s bad hair day fix, braids are done professionally in salons and by the every day girl, maybe with a little help from Pinterest. Braids started coming back into style on the runways, being used in designer fashion shows with over the shoulder fishtail braids first appearing on Alexander Wang’s Spring 2010 show.
But braids are not just for the runway! You can rock some sort of braid for almost any occasion. From big bold braids to small braids elevating a simple half up-half down look -- there are tons of ways to incorporate braids into your look! There is no right or wrong way to do them! Peachy Keen has used creative braids for some recent events! Last year for Peachy Keen’s Spring Wonderland Fashion Show, some of the models sported braids for the show! One look was inspired by braids used in Rodarte’s Fall 2013 Fashion Show.
This is the Rodarte version:

1. Brush your hair out and separate into two sections.
2. Take a small piece of hair from the left section and cross over so its in the middle of both sections.
3. Take a small piece of hair from the left section and cross it over so its in the middle of both sections.
4. Continue steps 2 and 3, bringing pieces of hair from one side over and bringing it into the middle of both sections. Alternate between the left and right side. Take as big or as little pieces of hair as you want depending on the look you are going for.
5. Once all hair is braided fasten with hair tie.
6. Leave the braid tight or pull loosely at the strands for a tousled, messy look.
This fishtail style is a step up from your average braid and not any more difficult! The more styles you try the better you will get! There is so much you can do with braiding your hair, so get creative! If you are looking for more braid inspiration check out Amber Fillerup Clark on Instagram!
