Soon after the creation and patent of Levi's Jeans, two other large manufacturers came into the business, Wrangler and Lee. During the 1930's jeans began to become popular outside of the work force through their popularization in Western movies, and 20 years later denim became popular with the younger generation due to stars like James Dean. However, jeans weren't a serious fashion item until the 1980's when designers started producing their own take on the blue jean.
