fashionABLE is a non-profit organization that helps rehabilitate exploited women in Ethiopia. The company partners with "Women at Risk" to help generate funds to provide women with counseling and provide them with an alternate form of income. The beauty of the process is that the women make the scarves, fashionABLE sells them to you, and all the proceeds go right back into helping rehabilitate women and provide them with training to make the scarves. The whole process is simple, yet is an extreme help to women in poverty.
fashionABLE carries a variety of colors and styles including the Saba Infinity scarf which comes in five different colors, the Feleku patterned scarf, and the Etanesh Stripe scarf, which are only three of the many we have in stock here! While you may struggle over which color to get, don't forget to try tying the scarf in a variety of ways! There's even an easy-to-follow video giving you 27 different ways to wear your new scarf!
If the idea of helping a group of women start their lives over hasn't completely warmed your heart, then take a look at each of the tags on the scarves. Every scarf features a message from the woman it is named after. For example, the Saba scarves say "I am ABLE to feel pride in my work". These scarves touch the lives of not only the women who make them, but their children and families as well. The Meselu scarf's tag says "I am ABLE to send my son Eyob to school."
Everyone's favorite Bachelorette, Emily Maynard sporting many times fashionABLE scarves during the show's taping! It's great to know that she can be fashionable and support a great cause while in the spotlight!
So if you are looking for a scarf that does more than keep you warm and become a staple accessory, come in and try out the fashionABLE scarves! Nervous about picking the right color or tying it right? The Peachy Keen staff is more than happy to give you some tips!
fashionABLE facts:
The founder, Barrett Ward, has been making a difference in the lives of Ethopian women since 2005, when he created the Mocha Club. Activists in the Mocha Club would give up two mochas a month, about $7, and donate it to relief efforts in Africa. Ward then went on to live in Ethopia and run the "Women at Risk" organization. fashionABLE was created to fill a void of employment with integrity for the women benefiting from Barrett Ward's efforts.
